Savings is Qapital's foundation, and Cashback Hacks was launched to help users build their savings while also shopping as a Chrome/Safari extension. For the next iteration of this feature, we wanted to build the foundation to allow for app engagement growth and revenue, while also making improvements together with our partner, Wildfire.

First things first

I started this project conducting a competitive analysis of our competitors, understanding the current state of the feature, while also taking a look at data.

Challenges along the way

One of our biggest problems with Cashback Hacks' first iteration was Discoverability. With that in mind, I started to think of ways where we could bridge the gap between users' intention and action.

1. Per data, we knew our overview (or wallet) screen was the one with the most engagement. Instead of a dismissible card, I thought of ways to integrate a introduction in a seamless way.

2. Promote the feature or missing opportunities on the transactions screen.

3. Take advantage of our activity feed.

4. Notify user when cash is in (email was part of our MVP, but could be good to do the same on the app to generate engagement towards the marketplace).

Outcome

We moved away from having it only as a Chrome/Safari Extension, and allow users to automatically get their deals by visiting the brand they would like to shop through the Markeplace. Saving while shopping was on.
